This museum quality reproduction is copied from an original that was in my collection. It includes a solid steam bent Ash drum shell, oil stained and oil varnished, with the unique Meacham tack design. The counter hoops are painted with a custom mixed oil paint and are secured with four iron nails. Calfskin batter head and goatskin bottom are standard on this drum. Imported natural gut snares, three strand hemp rope, and brass strainer, copied off of an original in my collection, finish the instrument.

Two and three ply drum shells were a common site in Boston and New York during the mid 19th century. This particular drum consists of a two ply shell, the outer being maple, with a single row of iron nails. Steam bent maple counter hoops nailed and painted in a custom mixed red oil paint. Three strand hemp rope, skin heads, natural gut snares, and brass thumb screw strainer are standard on this museum quality instrument.

Musician's during the American Civil War are often seen in photographs sporting a rectangular NCO belt. This example would be appropriate for the period of 1861-1865. The buckle is from Hanover Brass. Properly waxed linen thread is used to hand stitch the buckle and keeper in place, and as always, top quality vegetable tanned leather is used for the belt itself.
